PD Detection and HV Instrumentation
HFDE has joined forces with local partners Instrument Transformers Ltd (ITL) and Smart Diagnostic Monitoring Technology (SDMT), offering a unique range of hardware and technical services to owners and operators of HV equipment and networks.
ITL is a long-established business in the field of LV, MV & HV protection and measurement instrumentation equipment design and manufacture. With a strong track record of innovation, including an optical current sensor for MV & HV applications, ITL is also contributing to photonic HV asset condition monitoring for both onshore & offshore installations. ITL is an accredited supplier to many electricity utilities and network operators in the UK and overseas, providing custom solutions underpinned by its Fit for Offshore Renewables (F4OR) granted status, UL and multiple ISO certifications.
SDMT has been manufacturing partial discharge (PD) monitoring equipment and sensors for more than a decade and, through engineering personnel who have contributed to its technology development, traces its roots to the original research team at the University of Strathclyde where UHF PD detection technology was first pioneered in the early 1990s. With more than 10,000 installed PD sensors and 250 online monitoring systems in operation world-wide SDMT’s objective is to deliver best-in-class diagnostic tools to asset managers.
HFDE - ITL - SDMT partnership offers a complete range of PD sensors and monitoring solutions, ranging from handheld survey units (sensors include HFCTs, UHF, RF, TM, TEV, acoustic, ultrasonic) to the installation and commissioning of permanent PD monitoring systems for transmission level GIS. HFDE’s technical expertise built up during more than 30 years of experience in PD research and field testing ensures that users will benefit from comprehensive and reliable diagnosis of HV equipment health.
